Alice Marguriete Purcell

Alice Marguriete Purcell, 72, of Phenix City, Alabama, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2026, surrounded by loving family. A visitation will be held at Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 3738 Hwy 431 N., Phenix City, AL 36867, on Friday, May 1, 2026, at 1:00 pm EDT, followed by a Funeral Service at 2:00 pm EDT. Mrs. Purcell will be privately interred at Lakeview Memorial Gardens.

Alice Purcell was born in Phenix City, Alabama, on June 25, 1953, to the late Hughy Basil Helms and Merle Jeanette Roberson Helms. She met the love of her life, Nathan Purcell, at a young age and they married in 1969. She was a devoted wife and mother, cherishing her time and memories with her family. Alice was a great cook and enjoyed cooking for her family. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, camping and fishing. She traveled to Panama City often and occasionally made trips to visit friends with her husband. Any time she came across something with Betty Boop, she had to have it. She was caring and had a genuine love for others. Alice will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, Alice is preceded in death by her sons, Hubert Purcell, Chris Purcell, and Michael Purcell; sisters, Merle Donita Helms Allison and Janie Marie Helms Shirah; and brothers, Royce Seth Helms, Melvin Green Helms, and Louie Albert Helms.

Alice is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Nathan Purcell; daughter-in-law, Susie Purcell; brother, Robert Edgar Brooks and wife Mary Ellen; grandchildren, Robbie Williams, Seth Purcell, Jacob Purcell, Shayne Word, Brent Purcell, and Shelby Purcell; Rhea Purcell, Kaysen Purcell, Cayden Williams, Bryson Williams, Kyler Williams, Brynleigh Williams, and Bryson Rodgers; as well as numerous extended family members and friends.
