Annette Powell Pope

Annette Powell Pope, 76, of Phenix City, AL passed away early Thursday morning, January 11, 2024, in the comfort of her daughter’s home while surrounded by her loving family.  
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm EST, Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City with Rev. Randy Comer and Al Harwood officiating.  Interment with Patriot Guard Honors escort will follow at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home in Phenix City.  Serving as pallbearers are Allen Harwood, Tom Baltzell, Mike Good, Johnny Winebrenner, John Johnson, DJ Kuhlman, Steve Arnold, and Tim (Saint) Santellanes. 
Mrs. Pope was born February 26, 1947, in Columbus, GA, daughter of the late Jim F. Powell and Cleo Hoffman Powell.  She was employed with Piggly Wiggly with 39 years of loyal service.  She had a passion for serving people. She was a member of the VFW Post 5228 in Smiths Station and served as Chaplain for the VFW Auxiliary as well as District Chaplain.  She enjoyed cooking for the VFW members, friends, and loved fellowship.  She was also a member of the Patriot Guard where she served in many missions.  But one of her greatest joys was spending time with all her family and especially her grandchildren. She was a member of River of Life Church in Phenix City.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry L. Pope; one sister, Pauline Floyd; and three brothers, Ellis Powell, Thelbert Powell, and Lamar Powell.
She is survived by her children, Jessica Pope Campbell and husband Peter, and Jerri Lynn Cooper; three grandchildren, Mikahlia Brewer, Jason Turner, and Hezekiah Campbell; four great- grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, extended family members, church family, her VFW Post 5228 family, and many caring friends.
