Mrs. Annie Lou Wells Richard, 85, of Salem, AL passed away Sunday, August 17, 2025 at the Bethany House in Auburn, AL.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm EST Thursday, August 21, 2025 at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City, AL. A private interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday afternoon from 1:00 until 2:00 pm EST, one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Richard was born October 6, 1939 in Bonifay, FL, daughter of the late Alex Wells, Sr. and Arleva Cook Wells. She retired from Gentry Printing with over 28 years of service. During her tenure with the company, she worked in almost every position. Mrs. Richard enjoyed being outside, working in her yard and gardening. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and singing karaoke. Above all, she loved spending time with her family. Mrs. Richard was a long time member of the Primitive Baptist Church.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hermon Lafayette Richard; as well as, four sisters, six brothers and a great-grandchild, Chandler Ian Hazen, Jr.
She is survived by three children, Derek Lafayette Richard (Patty), Trena Yvonne Hazen (Jay) and Tonya Arleva Scarborough (Vance); a brother, Carlton Wells (Ann) ; eleven grandchildren, Jerek (Joey), Tessa, Seth, Molly, Cayli (John), Trent (Alisha), Chandler (Hope), Hannah (Jared), Makenzie (Corey), Shane and Chris; fifteen great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren; several extended family and friends.
