Annie Nell Horner

March 18, 1937 — April 15, 2023

Annie Nell Moore Horner, 86, of Fortson, Georgia, transitioned peacefully from earth to heaven late Saturday night, April 15, 2023, while surrounded by her loving family.
A celebration of life service will take place Monday morning, April 24, at 10:30 am EST at Lakewood Baptist Church in Phenix City, AL, with sons Bart Horner and Thad Horner officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday evening, April 23, 2023 at Lakewood Baptist Church from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm EST.
Mrs. Horner was born March 18, 1937 in Henderson, TN; daughter of the late Ira Moore and Bertie Jones Moore. Following graduation from Southwest Baptist University, she became an elementary school teacher and taught in Missouri, Oklahoma, Virginia, California, and Georgia before her retirement.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Moore.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 67 years, Dr. Jerry Horner of Fortson, GA; her children, Tamara Eriksen and husband Russ of Saint Petersburg, FL, Major (Ret.) Jerry Bart Horner and wife Pattie of Lawton, OK, and Thad Horner and wife Anila of Tulsa, OK; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, extended family, church family, and many caring friends.
Mrs. Horner was a member of Lakewood Baptist Church; where she served as a Sunday School teacher and was an avid member of the Amen Choir. She lived an adventurous life, camping with her family across Europe, Israel, North and Central America. She traveled through most of the countries of South America by plane, train, bus, and private car. She accompanied her husband on many ministry trips on many islands and every continent except Antarctica.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers friends consider contributing to the Amen Choir of Lakewood Baptist Church, 4011 Lakewood Dr., Phenix City, AL. 36867.
