Barbara Thompson Morris, 82, of Salem, AL died peacefully at her home on Sunday, December 28, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM (EST) on Friday, January 02, 2026, in the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL with Brother Scott Tuell officiating. A private interment will follow in Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM till the funeral hour at the funeral home on Friday.
Ms. Morris was born April 02, 1943, in Geneva County, AL daughter of the late Rivie L. “Judge” Thompson and Johnnie Brannon Thompson. She had retired from Fieldcrest Mills after 35 years of service as a Weaver. Ms. Morris. In her spare time, she loved to sew and often helped family and friends with special sewing projects. She was an avid Alabama Football and Braves Baseball fan. Her family was her world, and she was the neighborhood mom. Her family and friends called her “Maw” with great affection. In our world she was the grandmother, Maw, of the year.
Ms. Morris was preceded in death by her parents, Rivie and Johnnie Thompson; siblings, James Hardy Thompson, Charles Thompson and Marie Thompson Rials; a granddaughter, Michelle Victoria Scroggins.
Survivors include her daughter Debra Keyser (Rusty). Salem, AL; two sons, Steve Morris (Daphanie), Smiths Station, AL and Johnathan Morris, Columbus, GA; one sister, Arie Wise (Ronnie), Clanton, AL; four grandchildren, Brandi Jones (Jeremy), Nickey Keyser Lewis (Brand), Joey Keyser (Debbie “Cup Cake”) and Jason Jordan; six great-grandchildren, Landon Keyser, Bayleigh Keyser, Makayla Jones, Michael Jones, Levi Lewis and Lane Lewis; nieces, nephews and friends.
