Brenda Marks Wrubel

Brenda Marks Wrubel, 83, of Phenix City, AL formerly of St. Augustine, FL died at her home on Monday, March 02, 2026, while under the care of Compassus Hospice.

A Private Service of Remembrance will be held at a later date according to Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL.

Mrs. Wrubel was born July 07, 1942, in Virginia daughter of the late Alfred Marks and Pauline Edwards Marks. She loved to crochet, often making special items for family and friends. Mrs. Wrubel also enjoyed shopping, especially with her grandchildren. She was an avid animal lover and rescued numerous abandoned animals. Most of all she was a great Grandma to her family.

Mrs. Wrubel was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Pauline Marks; her sister, Barbara Purdie; her husband, John Wrubel and son, Robert “Dale” Chreene.

Survivors include her daughter, Debra Funk, Phenix City, AL and son, Bruce Chreene, LA; one brother, Wayne “Bubba” Marks; six grandchildren, Christy Chreene (Nikki), Steven Funk (Lisa), Brandi Strickland (Corey), Adam Funk, Michael Chreene and Brandon Chreene (Jewel); Tatum McReynolds, Kaiden Funk, Steven Funk, Devon Funk, Gavin Funk and Caleb Chreene; several nieces, nephews and friends.
