Constance “Connie” Carmack Houston

March 13, 1941 — September 9, 2021

Constance Marie “Connie” Carmack Houston, 80, of Phenix City, AL died at her home with her family by her side on Thursday, September 9, 2021.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at 2:00 PM (EST) on Sunday, September 12, 2021 in the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL with Rev. Mark Helms officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Houston was born March 13, 1941 in Columbus, GA daughter of the late George F. Carmack and Marie McCabe Carmack. She had retired from the American Red Cross, Russell County Chapter and was following in her mother’s footsteps. Her mother, Mrs. Marie had started the Red Cross, Russell County Chapter. She loved her work and was a constant advocate of the Red Cross. Mrs. Houston loved to travel, so she was able to combine her love of travel and traveling to helping others with disaster relief. She was very determined in everything she did, and she did it to the best of her ability especially where her family and community were concerned. Mrs. Houston loved her family and was passionate in patriating in family events at any cost. She was an avid Alabama Football fan often sharing in game day activities with family and friends. We will miss her determined ways, but she has left a permanent mark on our family and the community that will last a lifetime.
Mrs. Houston was preceded in death by her parents and husband, LaVaughn Houston.
Survivors include her long time companion, Jimmy Davis, Phenix City, AL; daughter, Melody Davidson (John), Suwanee, GA, step-daughter, Tamara Avant (Bob), Phenix City, AL; two grandchildren, Glen Boutwell and Jordan Avant; special first cousin, Star Rowell; several other family members also survive.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made in her memory to the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund, at www.redcross.org.
