Mrs. Dorothy Scott Mitchell

Dorothy Scott Mitchell, 94, of Phenix City, Alabama, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at the Columbus Hospice House with family by her side.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM EST on Saturday, November 12, 2022, in the chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home located at 4048 Macon Road Columbus, Georgia 31908, with Dr. Tim Jones officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A private interment will be held at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery.

Mrs. Mitchell was born in Vidalia, Georgia, the daughter of the late Walter Scott and Cora Lanier Scott. Mrs. Mitchell was a proud homemaker faithfully supporting her late husband Carson Delone Mitchell and their children in all of their adventures. She loved taking trips to Disney World with her husband, children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling with her sister Dona. In addition to her volunteer work she served as Unit President, District President and Sergeant of Arms of the Women’s Auxiliary for the American Legion Post 135 in Phenix City, AL. Mrs. Mitchell enjoyed gardening, cooking and volunteering at the Tuskegee Veteran’s Hospital. Above all, she loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death by one son Carson Wayne Mitchell; sister Mozelle Johnson and step-mother Lula Mae Morris.

Left to cherish Mrs. Mitchell’s memory is her son Alan Mitchell and his wife Carol of Franklin, NC; daughter in law Barbara Mitchell of Phenix City, AL; sister Dona Edenfield of Garden City, GA; grandchildren Brent Mitchell, Jason Mitchell (Holly) and Jonathan Crockett (Dana); great grandchildren Hannah Mitchell, Riley Mitchell, Amelia Crockett and Caroline Crockett and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested contributions may be made to the American Legion Post 135 in Phenix City, AL in memory of Mrs. Mitchell.
