Dorothy Wright Rogers, 81, of Smiths Station, AL, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2025. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Dorothy Rogers was born on July 30, 1943, to the late Walter James Wright and Fammie B. Williams Wright, in Columbus, GA. Dorothy was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Red Hat Society and AARP. Dorothy married Wiley W. Rogers and remained his devoted wife until his tragic passing in 1984. She never remarried but met Johnnie C. Kelly and spent 27 years with him as a life partner. She enjoyed watching old westerns, especially gun smoke, and reading. Dorothy was passionate about music and loved dancing. Cruises with her sister Mary was one of her favorite things to do and she always looked forward to the adventure. Dorothy was always laughing and enjoyed caring for her cats, Bossy and Buddy. Above all, Dorothy loved her family. She adored her grandchildren and cherished the many fond memories she had of spending with her family. Her greatest accomplishment was being a wonderful mother and grandmother. Dorothy will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.

Dorothy Rogers is preceded in death by her husband, Wiley W. Rogers; life partner, Johnnie C. Kelly; parents, Walter James Wright and Fammie B. Williams Wright; and siblings, Barbara Jean Brown, Eunice Nadine Stevens, Irene Grace, Rosalyn Grantham, Elaine Wright, Roy Donald Wright, and Walter Marvin Wright.

She is survived by her children, Tammy Canida, Vera Dawn Stinson (Dale), Kimela Canida, Lisa Nicole Kelly Palmer (Paul), Misty Michelle Kelly Blake (John), John C. Canida, Jr. (Jan), and John Kelly (Kelly); siblings, Ellen J. Stoer, Mary Anne Starling, Jennifer Smith, Charles Wright (Thomas), and Lamar Wright; and well as 13 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.
