Dr. Edward “Eddie” Lammons, 85, of Phenix City, AL, passed away on July 3, 2025 at Piedmont Midtown Medical Center in Columbus, GA.

A private service will be held at a later date.

Dr. Lammons was born on November 1, 1939, son of the late Melvin Gary Lammons and Claudia Irene Williams Lammons. He was a graduate of Central High School in Phenix City, Alabama. Upon graduation, he attended Columbus College where he played baseball and basketball. He was a graduate of the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, AL. Dr. Lammons attended the University of Alabama in Birmingham where he received his medical degree. He was the Lee County Alabama Mental Health director before opening a private practice. Dr. Lammons operated a successful family medical practice in Phenix City for many years before his retirement. He loved playing and watching any and all sports. His love was softball, where he won numerous local, state and national titles. Those teams and players were highly respected throughout the United States. Dr. Lammons was inducted as a member of the Alabama Softball Hall of Fame years ago. He loved everything Alabama Crimson Tide! During the fall, he would be found sitting in front of a television somewhere watching Alabama football and yelling “Roll Tide”.

Other than his parents, Dr. Lammons is preceded in death by a brother, Gary “Big Red” Lammons, and a sister, Barbara Lammons Snellings.

Dr. Lammons is survived by his children, Chris Lammons (Glori) and Leigh Ann Barbaree (Shane), his grandchildren, Brooks Barbaree, Mary Stewart Lammons and Ann Bradford Lammons. He is also survived by his sister Mary Ann (William), sister-in-law, Mavis Lammons, brother-in-law, Jay Snellings, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
