Etta “Bell” Horne Wasjewski

Etta Horne Wasjewski, 89, of Phenix City, AL, passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at Orchard View in Columbus, Georgia.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Wasjewski will be conducted by Bro. Nyhl Irvin and Bro. James Benefield at 12:30 PM EST, on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, in the Chapel of  Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 3738 Highway 431 North, Phenix City, AL. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery.

Mrs. Wasjewski was born in the Dixie Community of Russell County, Alabama and after her first marriage to the late Lem O. Horne (CWO-3 Retired U. S. Army), she traveled and lived in several cities as a faithful military wife. Later, Etta married her second husband the late Richard L. Wasjewski (SFC Retired U.S. Army). Mrs. Wasjewski retired as a banker after 23 years of service. She enjoyed bowling and golf but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. Etta was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church on Highway 80, Opelika, Alabama.

Mrs. Wasjewski is survived by a beloved daughter Jodie Johnson of The Woodlands, TX; two wonderful sons Rickey (Shari) Horne of Houston, TX and Steven (Jean) Horne of Kimbolton, OH; grandchildren Lauren Vance Birkins, Cody Johnson, Courtney Johnson, Joshua Johnson, Jennifer Anderson and Jessica Bentliff; great grandchildren Trevin Bentliff, Nash Bentliff, Marlow Mae Bentliff, Myles Anderson, Stetson Sowden, Owen Birkins, Cassidy Sowden and Leo Birkins. Several nieces, nephews and many dear friends.
