Evelyn Faye Walters Kinney, 75, of Smiths Station, Alabama, entered glory peacefully on Wednesday, May 7, 2025. A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 10:00 am EST at Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 3738 Hwy 431 N., Phenix City, AL 36867, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am EST officiated by Bro. Bud Passmore and Rev. Jarrod Horne, concluding with a committal service at Lakeview Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Kinney was born June 16, 1949, in Buena Vista, Georgia to Hoke and Levis Walters. She was the eighth of nine children. She was an active member of Concord Baptist Church, where she taught children’s Sunday school for many years. Mrs. Kinney retired from Standard Concrete Co. after 30 years. She was a loving wife, mother, and Nana, whose joy was found in caring for others. She was a true giver, a faithful servant, and lady of integrity. Mrs. Kinney enjoyed old gospel music, good conversation, showing compassion and gentleness to people from all walks of life, and spending time with family -especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Kinney is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 51 years, John “Johnny” Otis Kinney; parents, Hoke and Levis Walters; brothers, Mac Walters, Tom Walters, John Walters, David Walters and Mel Walters; and sisters, Dot Scott, Jean Craig, and Beth Cook.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Amanda Bragg and husband Kerry of Salem, AL; granddaughters, Kerra Aikens and husband Dylan, Miranda Hastings and husband Jonathan, and Jordan Bragg; great-grandchildren, Cayson Aikens, Leighton Aikens, Ellie Claire Hastings, and Rhett Hastings; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and church family.
