Evelyn L. Powell

Evelyn L. Powell, 89, of Phenix City, AL passed away peacefully Monday morning, September 24, 2018 at her home.

A graveside service will be held 3:00 pm EST Monday, October 1, 2018 at Lakeview Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends before the service from 1:00 to 3:00 pm EST at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City.

Mrs. Powell was born January 19, 1929 in Arlington, GA to the late Willie M. Lovett and Martha Kate Newberry Lovett. Evelyn married Willie C. Powell, Sr. in 1945 and were married for over 50 years. She was a longtime member of North Phenix Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Willie C. Powell, Sr., and a brother, Buddy Lovett.

She is survived by her children, Willie C. “Buddy” Powell, Jr. (Sarah) of Phenix City, AL, Delores Holton (Neal) of Columbus, GA, Carolyn Snell (Roger) of Atlanta, GA; sons, and Calvin Powell (Joi) of Phenix City, AL; 6 grandchildren, Raymond Powell, Will Powell, Rodney Gilbert, Angie Gilbert Sellers, Christopher Snell and Dr. Michael Ryan Snell; 8 great-grandchildren; some extended family, church family, and many caring friends.
