Mr. Forrest “Ford” Duncan

September 24, 1932 — January 13, 2023

Forrest “Ford” Duncan, 90, of Phenix City, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 13, 2023, at Piedmont Northside Hospital in Columbus, Georgia, with his family by his side.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM EST, on Monday January 16, 2023, in the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home with Pastor Don Abrams officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A private interment will be at a later date.

Mr. Duncan was born at home in Phenix City, Alabama, the son of the late Walter Cecil Duncan and Martha Nadine Paschal Duncan. He proudly served his country during the Korean War in the United States Air Force as an Aircraft Radio Operator and Navigator. Later he served in the civil service and retired as the Director of Information Systems at Fort Benning, GA. Mr. Duncan also served on the Board of Directors of TIC (Kinetic) Credit Union, served on the City of Phenix City Personnel Review Board and The Retirement Committee of Phenix City/ Russell County Chamber of Commerce. He was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church for over sixty-four years. During this time, he served as Chairman of Administrative Board, Treasurer, Nomination Committee, Finance Committee and Pastor Parish Relations Committee. He also enjoyed doing yardwork, gardening and reading in his spare time. Above all, he loved the time he was able to spend with his family.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Duncan was preceded in death by his wife Constance Whatley Duncan; sisters Myrtle Thomason, Frances Duncan and Earline Duncan and brothers Frank Duncan, Scott Duncan, Joel Duncan and Earl Duncan.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children Garry Duncan and his wife Kay Lynn of Salem, AL, David Duncan of Franklin, TN and Kristen Blackshear of Phenix City, AL and grandchildren Coleton Adams and Katelyn Blackshear and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
