Gertrude W. Hendricks

Gertrude Hendricks, 84, of Columbus, GA passed away Friday, March 11, 2016 at Gentiva Hospice, Columbus, GA.  A graveside service will be held at Fort Benning Main Post Cemetery on Friday, March 18, 2016 beginning at 10:00 A.M. EST with Pastor Kennith Savage officiating.  The family will receive friends Thursday, March 17, 2016 at Vance-Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Road, Columbus, GA  from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. EST.  

Gertrude was born March 5, 1932 in Altstadt, Czechoslovakia, to the parents of the late Josef and Antonia Wenzl (Lenk).  Gertrude was a homemaker, loving wife and mother. 

Other than her parents, Gertrude is predeceased by her loving spouse of 60 years, Lemuel Claude Hendricks.

Survivors include:  a daughter, Carola Chappell of Phenix City, AL; two sons:  Charlie Hendricks (Kim) of Smiths Station, AL and Darrell Hendricks of Columbus, GA; Two grandchildren:  Darylyn McNabb and Sydney Chappell; sisters:  Berta Franke and Brigitte El-Halabi; brother, Herbert Wenzl; nieces and nephews:  Martin,  Alfred, Ellen, Susanne, Christine, Thomas, Gavino and Samira; a friend, Wolfgang and wife Angie; and a beloved cat, Serafina.
