Reverend Glen Raymond Jacobs, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on April 17, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on January 27, 1934, in Hortense, Georgia. Raymond lived a life marked by unwavering faith, profound love, and an enduring commitment to serving others. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Raymond’s life and legacy during visitation on April 22, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Vance Brooks Funeral Home 4048 Macon Rd. Columbus, Georgia 31907. A funeral service will take place on April 23, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Calvary Assembly of God 8100 Cooper Creek Rd, Columbus, Georgia with interment immediately after at Evergreen Cemetery 4500 St. Mary's Rd, Columbus, Georgia 31907. The family invites guests to visit with them at the home of David Jacobs (6523 Mallard Dr. Midland, Georgia 31820) following the services. As we gather to honor Raymond, we do so with hearts full of gratitude for the love and light he brought into our lives. He leaves behind a world forever changed by his faith and love.
Raymond’s professional journey was both diverse and impactful. He dedicated several years as a principal at a Christian school, where his ability to connect with students and inspire them toward excellence shone brightly. His pastoral work across multiple churches further evidenced his devotion to faith and community. However, it was his missionary work through the Assemblies of God that truly defined his life's calling. For over 30 years, Raymond devoted himself to bringing hope and love to those in need in Indonesia, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Israel. His tireless spirit and commitment to spreading the Gospel left an indelible mark on countless lives across the globe.
He was a man with an expansive heart, one that never knew a stranger. Known for his kindness and loving demeanor, Raymond radiated warmth and understanding, drawing others to him with ease. He held a Master’s degree in Education and a Master’s in Administration, which he utilized effectively in both his professional and personal life to uplift those around him.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Raymond enjoyed life through various hobbies and interests. He found joy in playing tennis during his younger years at Florida Southern and experienced the thrill of flying after earning his pilot's license, which allowed him to own a plane for a time. He also had a passion for carpentry, reflecting his creative side, and was a talented musician, proficient in many instruments.
Raymond is survived by his devoted wife, Janet Miller Jacobs, who stood by him through every stage of life. He is also survived by their daughter Elizabeth Ruth Hanson (Tim) and sons David Jacobs (Amira) and Joel Jacobs; grandchildren Shayla Olivia Hyde (Ariel), Aaron Israel Hanson (Tiffany), Camilla Raquel Jackson (Heath), Stephen Michael Jacobs, Anna Elizabeth Le (Andrew), Seth Isaac Jacobs (Tierra), Sophia Grace Goldsmith (Aidan), and David Ray Jacobs. Raymond’s legacy continues through his cherished family, which now includes 17 precious great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father Dennis Mitchell Jacobs, mother Lois Emma West Jacobs, sons Paul Raymond Jacobs and John Stephen Jacobs, grandson Caleb Josiah Hanson, and sister Sylvia Carol Jacobs.
Though his family and friends mourn his loss, they are encouraged in the promise that they will be reunited with him one day in eternity.
