Msgt (Ret) Maurice William Wright

MSgt (Ret.) Maurice William Wright, 77, of Phenix City, AL passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at St. Francis Hospital. A private graveside service with military honors will be held according to Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Columbus.

Maurice was born on July 26, 1945 in Needles, CA to Herbert Alva Vick and Roberta Jean Wright. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during which time he completed a tour in the Vietnam War. He retired after 22 years with the rank of Master Sergeant. Maurice was very passionate about the military and dedicated in his service.

Maurice was Roman Catholic by faith, and, in 1998, he became a member of the Tyrone Masonic Lodge in New Mexico. He enjoyed traveling, eating Thai food, watching old westerns and college football, his favorite team being Tennessee. Family was his heart. He deeply loved and cared for each member of his family, especially his grandchildren, whom he absolutely adored.

Other than his parents, Maurice is preceded in death by wife Linda Lou Scott Wright.

Survivors include his daughters Melody Wright and Teresa Wright, both of Columbus, GA, and Kimber Fichtner (Dirk) of California; sons Terayooth Pansing (Lisa) of Charleston, SC and Marcus Wright (Mary Kate) of Richmond Hill, GA.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family for funeral expenses.
