Henry “Earl” Hobbs

Henry “Earl” Hobbs, 76, of Ellerslie, GA passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at his residence. A memorial service will be held at Bethesda Baptist Church, 3830 GA-85, Ellerslie, GA on Saturday, March 18, 2023 beginning at 11:00 AM with Pastor Steve Stuart officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, one hour prior to the service.

Earl was born on April 20, 1946 in Potterville, GA to the late Felton Hobbs and Rachel Louise Hobbs. He was a Master Mechanic, Underwater Demolition Technician, and the owner of Earl Hobbs Auto and Air in Columbus, Georgia. He was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church in Columbus for 25 years, then, after moving to Ellerslie, became a member of Bethesda Baptist Church.

Earl was a wonderful husband, father, brother, and grandfather who truly loved his family and the Lord. His light-hearted personality always brought a smile to those around him. It was a common occurrence to hear Earl laugh and say, “I graduated from Potterville Junior High 3rd Grade”. His love for fishing and hunting are unmatched and his garden was the best around. Earl will be greatly missed by his family and friends, but he will always be remembered with the fondest of memories.

Besides his parents, Earl is preceded in death by his sister Mazie Knight and brothers Harold Hobbs and Gary Hobbs.

Survivors include his loving and dedicated wife of 52 years, Brenda Hobbs; daughters Shonna Hobbs (James) and Sheryl McCraine (Wayne), both of Columbus, GA, and Sharlene Brown (Travis) of Ellerslie, GA; foster son Manuel Fort (Christy) of Hope Mills, NC; sisters Gayle Lane and June Skyrm; brothers Robert Hobbs, Mac Hobbs, and Eddie Hobbs; and 7 grandchildren.
