Inez Harper Smith, 89, of Phenix City, AL passed away late Thursday night, October 16, 2025, at Parkwood Heath Care in Phenix City.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm EST on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at Vance Brooks Funeral Home with Rev. Bud Passmore officiating. A private interment will be held at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday one hour prior to her service from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm EST at the funeral home in Phenix City.

Mrs. Smith was born June 20, 1936, in Century, FL. She was the daughter of the late Romie Lee Harper and Jessie Mae Riley Harper. She was employed as a switchboard operator with the Medical Center in Columbus, GA with 25 years of loyal and faithful service. She enjoyed working with ceramics, cooking, and reading, especially reading her Bible. She loved working in her yard and tending to her flowers while watching all the beautiful nature that surrounded her. She was a member of the WMU’s where she was a longtime member of Concord Baptist Church in Salem, AL.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas O’Neal Smith; three sisters, Rhae Harper, Katie Mae Smith, and Voncile Radford, and two brothers, Leonard L. Harper, and Walter L. Harper.

She is survived by her children, Debbi Smith Kelley and husband Dwayne of Salem, AL, and Keith O’Neal Smith and wife Susan of Ellerslie, GA; three grandchildren, Brandon D. Kelly (Tonia), Keith O’Neal Smith, Jr. (Melissa), and Kristen Ann Smith (Trey Harris); four great grandchildren, Heather Rippy (Josh), Elden Thomas Smith, Karlee Anna Smith, and Hadley Annelise Harris; two precious great-great grandchildren, Lakelynn Rippy, and Waylon Rippy; several nieces and nephews, numerous other loving family members, church family, and many caring friends.

The Smith family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to all the staff at Parkwood Health Care for their love and tender care shown to Mrs. Inez Smith.
