Iris Elaine Forbes

Iris Elaine Forbes, 80, of Midland, GA passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Road, Columbus, GA on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 beginning at 2:00 PM with Reverend Ann N. Jones officiating. The interment will conclude at Parkhill Cemetery.

Iris was born on November 17, 1942 in Columbus, GA to Ralph L. Smith and Doris Smith. She was employed at Bell South where she retired as a clerk. Iris was a remarkable woman who was always full of life. She enjoyed crocheting, watching old television shows, and listening to music, especially rock and roll. Her house and yard were adorned with plants and flowers which flourished beautifully under her care. Family, however, was her passion. Iris absolutely adored her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved having her family gather together, cooking for them and inserting her clever sense of humor at just the right times. Iris was Christian by faith.

Iris is preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of 47 years Andrew Weyman Forbes and her mother and father.

Survivors include her daughters Melissa Ann Forbes, Jennifer Elaine Forbes, and Jamie Elizabeth Forbes, son Jason Edward Forbes, and daughter-in-law Nikki Forbes, all of Columbus, GA; grandchildren Khamari, Braxton, Khaidyn, Reina, Cameron, Mason, Ashleigh, Drew, and Amber; and six great-grandchildren.
