Mr. James “Jimmy” Davis, 91 of Phenix City, AL passed away Sunday, August 24, 2025 at his home.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm EST Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City, AL with Rev. Grant Parker officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
Mr. Davis was born in New Brockton, AL on April 17, 1934, son of the late Walker Davis and Minnie Pearl Cain Davis. He served in several roles during his 30 year career with CVCC, the last of which was Director of Auxiliary Services. Mr. Davis had a huge heart and was heavily involved in the community. He was a founding member of the Doris Weaver Girls Club, he served several years as the Phenix City Recreation Director, he was a member of the Phenix City Exchange Club for over 20 years and he also served on the Phenix City Planning Board. Mr. Davis loved watching any type of sport but his favorite was Alabama football. He was still listed as a member of First United Methodist Church in Phenix City but he also attended Epworth Methodist Church.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Davis; a daughter, Kamala Davis; a long time companion, Connie Houston; two sisters, Betty Ann Davis and Carolyn Davis; and two brothers, Harry Davis and Byron Davis.
He is survived by his daughter, Tamara Davis Avant and husband Bob; three sisters, Mary Rumsey, Jackie Cosby and Lorene Odom; a grandson, Jordan Avant and wife Brittani; a great-grandson, Landon Riley; as well as several extended family and friends.
