James “Fred” Waldrep

Fred Waldrep, 76 passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at his residence. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 2P.M. at Vance-Brooks Funeral Home with Pastor Keith Sanders officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 7, 2012 from 6 – 8 P.M. at Vance-Brooks Funeral Home. Fred was born on April 28, 1936 in Columbus, GA to the late James Henry Waldrep and Eliza Hall. Fred was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. He retired after more than 55 years working as an electrician which he loved. Fred was part of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers LU# 779 Columbus which later merged with the Atlanta brotherhood # 613. He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter Katrina Harrell and his sister Margie Waldrep. Survivors include his wife of 54 years Betty J. Chesser Waldrep of Bleecker, AL; daughter Shannon Deiona Waldrep of Bleecker, AL and Papa's pride and joy Caden F. Waldrep.
