James Marcus “Mark” Godwin

James Marcus “Mark” Godwin, 51, of Phenix City, Alabama, passed away peacefully at his residence on Saturday, April 22, 2023.

A Visitation will be held for friends and family on Thursday evening, April 27, 2023, from 5:00-7:00 P.M. EST at Vance Brooks Funeral Home located at 3738 U.S. Highway 431 North Phenix City, AL 36867.

Mr. Godwin was born in Birmingham, Alabama, the son of the late Franklin James Godwin and mother, Mary Moore Godwin. As a result of his father’s occupation, Mark moved to Phenix City, Alabama as a teenager. In his earlier days, Mark enjoyed fishing and trail riding on his dune buggies. His passion was truck driving. Mark drove for Joe Ryan Trucking until his retirement. Above all, Mark loved his family and spending time with them, especially his mother and aunt Jeanette.

Mr. Godwin was preceded in death by his father Franklin James Godwin and his grandmother Jessie Mae Moore.

Those left to cherish his memory are his mother Mary Moore Godwin of Smiths Station, AL; son Daniel Godwin of Millbrook, AL; sister Jill Hardy (Ben) of Smiths Station, AL; brother Doyle Reeder of Odenville, AL; grandchildren Myleigh Godwin, Brynlee Godwin and Jacey Godwin; nephews Garrison McClary and Benton Hardy and niece Allison Reeder.
