Janis Flowers

Ms. Janis Hammock Flowers, 77, of Columbus, GA passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at Piedmont Midtown Medical Center in Columbus, GA.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm EDT Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City, AL with Rev. Mike Turner officiating.  Interment will follow at Riverdale Cemetery in Columbus, GA.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm, one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home.   

Ms. Flowers was born August 26, 1946 in Columbus, GA, daughter of the late J. D. Hammock and Rosa Bagley Hammock.  She retired from a career in mammography with 19 years of service at Ft. Benning.  She enjoyed crocheting and was a member of Warm up America, a foundation who make afghans for the less fortunate in the community.  Ms. Flowers was a member of The Church of the Holy Family and the Council of Catholic Women.    

She is preceded in death by her parents as well as a sister, Rosalind C. Brown and a brother, John T. “Skip” Hammock.

Ms. Flowers is survived by two daughters, Tracy Suit and husband Ric of Charlotte, NC and Rosalee Moffitt of Columbus, GA; grandchildren, Jeremy Suit, Piper Moffitt and Travis Moffitt; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
