Jeanette Griggs Ricks

Jeanette Griggs Ricks, 83, of Valley, AL, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2015, surrounded by her loving family.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am EDT, on Thursday, May 7, 2015, at Lakeview Memory Gardens with Reverend Grant Parker officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at Vance Memorial Chapel.

Mrs. Ricks was born on June 1, 1931, in Roberta, GA, the daughter of the late Robert Hortman and Lucille Beckham Hortman. She was a compassionate person who loved her family and was Methodist by faith.

Other than her parents she was preceded in death by the first husband and father of her sons, Seabron M. Griggs who passed away in 1982 and several brothers.

She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Robert T. Ricks of Valley, AL; 5 children, John and Pam Griggs of Seale, AL, Seabo and Vickie Griggs of Seale, AL, Steve and Kathy Ricks of Montgomery, AL, Terri Nickerson of Columbus, GA, and Jim and Lois Ferrell of Lake Mary, FL; sister, Gwendolyn King of Villa Rica, GA; brother, Mack Hortman of Macon, GA; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; extended family members and many caring friends.
