Jerry Wilks was born in Josie, Alabama, on June 15, 1947, to Melia Wilks and the late Marshall Wilks. Jerry was a member of Concord Baptist Church with his late wife for many years. He was a proud United States Navy veteran with several service medals, including the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and National Defense Service Medal. After his time in the military, he became an entrepreneur, most notably owning and running his two businesses, Wilks Pest Control and his grocery store, Buy For Less. He was a hardworking man who had a quick wit and was very generous. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and watching Alabama Football with his sons. The most important thing to Jerry was his family. Jerry was proud of the sons he raised and adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was naturally a nurturer and a provider. Jerry will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
Jerry is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Judith A. Wilks; and father, Marshall Wilks. He is survived by his mother, Melia Wilks; sons, Frank Wilks (Teri), Jeff Wilks (Tara), and Eddie Wilks (Melissa); brother, Marshall Wilks, Jr.; grandchildren, Justin Wilks (Alicia), Corey Wilks (Bridget), Hannah Hogue (Matthew), Gracie Wilks (Dylan), J.D. Wilks, and Haleigh Wilks; and great-grandchildren, Oakley Wilks, Kylen Wilks, William Wilks, Jace Wilks, Ryat Wilks, Walker Wilks, Murphy Hogue, and Brooklynn Wilks.
