Jessie Burkes Mccart

Jessie Burkes McCart, 88, of Phenix City, AL, passed away Thursday, November 14, 2013, at Columbus Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm EST, on Sunday, November 18, 2013, at Vance Memorial Chapel, with Reverend Donnie McCoy officiating. Interment will be held at Union Baptist Church Cemetery and the family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 at the funeral home.

Mrs. McCart was born on December 13, 1924, in Russell County, AL, the daughter of the late Jesse Burkes and Ire Delle Littleton Burkes. She retired from Kmart and was Baptist by faith.

Other than her parents she is preceded in death by her sister, Mozell Burkes and brother, Alton Burkes.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia “Pat” McCart; 2 sisters, Sheila Burkes, of Phenix City, AL and Sue Burkes Wofford, husband Larry, of Salem, AL; brother, Mike Richard Burkes, wife Barbara, of Pensacola, FL; nieces, Donna Pugh (Donnie), Rhonda Burkes and Debora Gormley (Bill) all of Pensacola, FL; nephew, Mike Burkes of Jacksonville, FL; other extended family members and many caring friends.
