John Steve Liscar Sr., 65, of Columbus, GA, passed away Friday, October 14, 2022, at his residence.
Graveside services will be held 3:00 PM Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at Parkhill Cemetery with Reverend Jonathan Moore officiating, according to Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Road, Columbus, GA.
Mr. Liscar was born September 14, 1957, in Charleston, SC to the late Robert Samuel Liscar and Ruby Patricia Guerrero Judy. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, where he received numerous awards and medals as he moved up to Staff Sergeant. After he was medically discharged from the Army, he became a systems analyst at TSYS and later worked with Home Depot. John Sr. was a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and senior instructor at Won’s Martial Arts, where he was also a captain of the K.I.C.K. Team, which is an organization that ministers and promotes a drug-free lifestyle through discipline and martial arts across the southeast. Mr. Liscar was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church. He loved music and sang at church, weddings and other events. John was a very devoted husband and father with a goofy sense of humor that the family will truly miss.
Survivors include his loving wife of over 42 years, Joi Cartwright Liscar of Columbus, GA; daughter, Janna Liscar of Columbus, GA; son, John S. Liscar, Jr. and his wife Kayla B. Liscar of Fortson, GA; sister, Laura Liscar of Nashville, TN; brother, Eric Liscar and his wife Diane Liscar of New Braunfels, TX; two dogs, Mia and Bella; several nieces and nephews; as well as many other family members who loved and cared for him.
Flowers are acceptable, but the family asks that for those desiring to do so, please donate to the Alzheimer’s Association at act.alz.org.
