Joseph Edgar Champion

July 4, 1966 — October 6, 2025

Ellerslie

Joseph Edgar Champion, a cherished husband, father, and friend, left this world on October 6, 2025, at the age of 59. Born on July 4, 1966, in Phenix City, Alabama, Joseph lived a life characterized by his selflessness, warmth, and love for those around him. A visitation to celebrate Joseph's remarkable life will be held on Thursday October 9, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Columbus, GA. The funeral service will follow on Friday October 10, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Solid Rock in Columbus, with interment at Lakeview Memory Gardens in Phenix City, Alabama, beginning at 2:00 PM the same day.

For many years, Joe served as a dedicated sales supervisor for Coca-Cola, where his personable nature and solid work ethic left a lasting impression on his colleagues and clients alike. In 2023, Joe earned his realtor’s license. He worked very hard to earn it and was proud of this accomplishment.

Joe's approach to life can be summed up by a few choice words: thoughtful, caring, and quick to love. He possessed a natural ability to forge connections with everyone he met, making him a beloved figure among extended family and friends. Whether he was engaging in fervent discussions about Auburn football, enjoying a day on the golf course, or attending services at Solid Rock, his laughter and light-hearted spirit were contagious.

Joseph was a devoted family man. He shared 40 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Leslie Champion, whose companionship was the cornerstone of his life. Together, they built a family rooted in love and respect. The joy he found in watching his family grow was unparalleled, and he treasured each moment spent with them.

In addition to his beloved wife Leslie, Joe is survived by his daughter Heather Champion (James); granddaughters Gracie Hess and Hannah Cureton; great-grandson River Hess; brother Charles Ray Champion; as well as many extended family members and friends.

Joe is reunited in eternity with his parents, Henry H. Champion and Janie Elizabeth East Champion, alongside his beloved grandparents and his mother and father-in-law, Howard and Pamela Friend.

Joe Champion's legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering support will be deeply missed but forever cherished by all who were touched by his life.
