Judy Hardeman Murphy, 83, of Butler, GA formerly of Phenix City, AL died at her home on Monday, October 20, 2025.

Judy was a lot of fun to be around – she never met a stranger. She was a gifted storyteller (sometimes long stories). She loved to laugh and make others laugh. Judy enjoyed spending time in Mexico Beach, Florida, travelling across the country in her RV, reading, and talking. She was a wonderful cook and loved to cook for a crowd.

She spent the last eight years with her constant companion Jimmy Teate. Judy and Jimmy both graduated from Central High School in Phenix City in 1959 and often got together with their high school friends.

The family would like to give special thanks to Ronnie Bunkley who has been a tireless, compassionate caregiver to Judy. They would also like to thank Ann Wainwright, Annie Myles, and Annira Mott for their loving care and support over the past two months. The family also offers heartfelt thanks to the staff at Columbus Hospice. This organization is efficient, organized, caring and offers many quality services. Please consider donating to Columbus Hospice.

Judy will be buried in a private service beside her husband of 46 years, William “Billy” Murphy, at Lakeview Memory Gardens in Phenix City, Alabama. Her parents J.B. and Jeanette Hardeman are also buried at Lakeview Memory Gardens.
