Larry “Bubba” Wayne Anthony, 85, of Phenix City, AL died at the home of his brother in Hoover, AL on Friday, March 13, 2026.
Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM (EST) on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at Hillside United Methodist Church according to Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL with Pastor Mike Koger officiating. Interment will follow in Hillside United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until the funeral hour on Wednesday at the church.
Mr. Anthony was born October 25, 1940, in Phenix City, AL son of the late Rev. Mark Wilson Anthony and Aeoline Little Anthony. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran. While serving our country he was stationed in France, Spain and Germany. Bubba used his time away from Alabama to travel and see new places and sights in Europe which fueled his love for travel. Bubba was a long-time member of Hillside United Methodist Church where he loved to sing in the choir. He had retired from Auburn University where he worked in the Computer Department. Because of his work he became a die-hard Auburn Tiger fan even though he was a graduate of West Alabama University, Livingston, AL.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Aunts: Martha Nell Johnston, Betty L. Idland, Helen Foate; Uncles: Terry M. Little, Herman T. Little, Thomas M. Little, Uriah Little, Trammel Little; Cousins Betty Lou Idland and Thomas A. Idland. Survivors include his brother, Terry Mark Anthony, Hoover, AL; special cousins, Roger Idland, Hoover AL, Allyson Maddox (Shane), Hoover, AL , Jenelle Andrews (Jimmy), Mt. Brook, AL , Jean Companion (Ronnie)Phenix City, AL , Debbie Melton (Mike), Buena Vista, GA, Mike Companion (Sherri), Mobile, AL and Jim Anthony (JoAnne), Columbus, Ga ; as well as numerous other family members and friends.
Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made in his memory to Hillside United Methodist Church, 3737 US Highway 80 W, Phenix City, AL 36870.
