Lori Ella Ullery

May 11, 1970 — November 24, 2021

Lori Ella Ullery of Phenix City, Alabama, passed away at her home on November 24, in the loving presence of family.

Lori lived her life to the fullest and fought for life. She was born on May 11, 1970, in St. Charles, MO, the daughter of Brent Corbin Ebeling and Barbara Jean (Nichols) Ebeling and was adopted in 1984 by David Shwalb, her mother’s second husband.

Lori’s life journey and career took her from Missouri to Michigan, Japan, South Carolina, Utah, Texas, and finally Alabama, where she met her soulmate and found true love.

Lori will always be remembered best as a loving wife, mother, sister, daughter, friend, and grandmother. She was brave, honest, confident, direct, independent, generous, compassionate, sensitive, vulnerable, beautiful on the outside and inside, witty, and one-of-a-kind. She was a fighter and a great communicator, with a gorgeous smile and a joyous laugh. She was intensely passionate about what mattered most to her: her family. She touched many lives and will be terribly missed by all those who were blessed to know and love her.

Lori attended East High School (UT) and was a graduate of Greenwood High School and Piedmont Technical College (SC). She was a brilliant Registered Nurse who saved many lives, and was a head ER and flight helicopter nurse at St. Mark’s Hospital in Salt Lake City, the second largest hospital in Utah.

She is preceded in death by her father, Brent Ebeling; grandparents, Tom and Jean Nichols, Claude (“Woody”) Woods, Corbin and Marie Ebeling, and Richard and Sylvia Shwalb; cousin Thomas J. Nichols; and uncle Malcom Castellaw.

She is survived by her loving husband of 5 years, Michael Ullery; daughter, Kayla (Alex) Osbourn; two sons, Michael Ullery, II, and Nicholas (Danye) Ullery; parents, Barbara Jean and David Shwalb; three sisters, Connie (Anthony) Merz, Becky (Jonathan) Berman, and Debbie (Andy) Gorder; brother, David A. Shwalb; grandson, Brantley Sherbet; former husbands Danny Hollon and Adam Niven; stepmother Judy Ebeling; lifelong best friend Linda Wilkinson; and many extended family members and caring friends, each of whom made a difference in her life and she dearly loved.
