Louie Vernon Olds

Louie Vernon Olds, 74, of Seale, AL passed away while at St. Francis Hospital, Columbus, GA on Thursday, October 27, 2022 after an extended illness.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM (EST) on Sunday, October 30, 2022 in the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL with Dr. David Kees and Rev. Mike Grimes officiating. A private interment will be in held in Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:00 PM till 2:00 PM at the funeral home.

Mr. Olds was born August 23, 1948 in Louisville, AL son of the late Louie Vachil Olds and Vela Maurine McLendon Olds. He worked at Hale Builders as a Superintendent with many years of committed service. He was an active member of Smiths Station Baptist Church where he enjoyed worshiping with family and friends. Mr. Olds was a unique gentleman with some interesting hobbies to include basket weaving and growing satsuma oranges. He was also a wonderful gardener who loved to grow and sell peas and turnips. We think he did this just as an excuse to get out and meet all kinds of people. Fishing was another fun hobby he shared with his family and friends. One thing we can proudly say about him was that he never disrespected his wife of 53 years, and others were not allowed to either. Missing his presence in our daily lives will be tender, but he has left so many wonderful memories for us to cherish.

He was proceeded in death by his youngest son, Christopher “Chris” Olds and his parents, Louie and Maurine Olds.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Faye Stroud Olds; one son, Matt Olds (Sandra); a sister, Syble Bailey (Wayne); three brothers, Bev Olds (Cathy), Johnny Olds (Becky) and Tim Olds; six grandchildren, Gaige, Nick, Will (Karmen), Mitchell, Ethan (his shadow), Emma; two great-grandchildren, Tanner and Layla; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
