A Service of Remembrance will be held at 11:00 AM (EST ) on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, in the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL with Rev. Jonathan Merritt officiating. Inurnment will follow in Lakeview Memory Gardens.
Lucas was born December 01, 1991, in Ft. Polk, LA son of Carla Gail Bishop Bailey and the late James Kenner Bailey. He was an active member of the Phenix City Police Force where he was on the Special Response Team and was a Field Training Officer. His immediate supervisor, Lt. Troy Brown said, “He was one of the best officers he had ever commanded”. Luke was a consummate professional holding himself and his fellow officers to the highest professional standards. He not only served our community with honor, he served our county in the Army Reserves for four years. Thank you for all of the sacrifices you made to make our community and country better and safer.
Luke was a loving and dotting father to McKenzie. As a single dad who worked odd hours, he went the extra mile to ensure she was always at the center of his world.
He was a loving son, brother, father and uncle. Lucas loved his family and was affectionately known as Uncle “Wookie” by his nieces and nephews.
Like his dad, he was a great mechanic. He and his dad spent long hours together enjoying working on cars. This was a great time of bonding and an excuse to spend extra time with his family.
Survivors other than his mother, Carla Gail Bailey, Seale, AL include his daughter, McKenzie Grace Bailey, Ft. Mitchell, AL; sister, Amamda Marie Douglass (Stephen), Seale, AL and two brothers, Joshua Kenner Bailey (Zyquetta Smith), Phenix City, AL and David Alden Bailey, Columbus, MS; special friend, Kimmie Smallwood, Phenix City, AL; several nieces, nephews and friends.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in his memory to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund at nleomf.org.
