Mrs. Margaret Johnson Turner passed away Thursday, April 2, 2026 at her home in Smiths Station, AL.
A funeral service will held 12:00 noon Thursday, April 9, 2026 at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City, AL with Rev. Bud Passmore officiating. An interment will follow at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5:00 pm EST until 7:00 pm EST at the funeral home.
Mrs. Turner was born January 6, 1952, in Pike County, AL daughter of the late Delmar Johnson and Siddie Austin Johnson. Mrs. Turner had a remarkable gift for nurturing both people and things. She loved gardening, especially roses, and was known for her ability to take even the smallest cutting and help it grow and flourish. Her green thumb was only matched by her generous heart. She found great joy in cooking and rarely prepared a meal without thinking of someone else to share it with. Whether delivering homemade soup to neighbors or welcoming an unexpected guest to her holiday table, she made sure no one felt alone. She also had a special talent for arranging flowers, often using her creativity to help make weddings and special occasions even more beautiful.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Sammie Turner; sisters, Mavis Sawyers and Edna Simmons; brothers, Brenton Johnson and George Johnson.
Mrs. Turner is survived by her daughters, Teresa Turner Whitlock and husband Gary and Leigh Ann Turner Mount and husband Jeremy; a sister, Faye Hattaway; two brothers, Kenneth Johnson (Billie) and Donald Johnson; grandchildren, Camden Mount, Kimberly Barrentine, Kelly Robbins (Kevin) and Cole Whitlock; great-grandchildren, Kason Robbins and Kylie Robbins; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Bethlehem Baptist Church, P. O. Box 185, Pine Mountain Valley, GA 31823.
