Mrs. Martha Sands

Martha Sands, age 74, resident of Phenix City, Alabama, passed away on Friday, April 8, 2022, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.  The family will receive friends at Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 3738 US Hwy 431N, Phenix City, Alabama on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, from 5-6 p.m. (EST).   Private interment will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Sands, daughter of the late Acy Blankenship and Inez Cook Blankenship, was born August 24, 1947, in Henry County, Alabama.  She was Pentacostal by faith and retired from the textile industry.

Mrs. Sands loved to walk and spend quality time with her family, particularly the grandchildren.  She enjoyed traveling with the family on vacations and visiting out of town relatives.  Mrs. Sands also enjoyed cooking for family events and going to the movies.  The family remembers her as a loving mother who enjoyed spending quality time with her family and friends.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Sands; two sisters, Mary Alice Woods and Ruth Sauls; five brothers, Earl “Bud” Blankenship, Lonnie “Jim” Blankenship, Ronnie Blankenship, Raymond Blankenship, and Homer Blankenship.

Mrs. Sands is survived by two daughters, Kimberly Brown and Sherri Brown; one sister, Lillian “Lil” Watson and her husband Jeff; three brothers, Charles Blankenship and his wife Barbara, Ray Blankenship and his wife Martha, and William Blankenship and his wife Liz; five grandchildren, Ava, Sabrina, April, Kyle, and Ethan; her former husband, Robert Brown and his wife Marion; many other relatives and friends.
