Mary Ann Wynn Pickett

May 18, 1930 — June 29, 2022

Mary Ann Wynn Pickett, age 92, resident of Phenix City, Alabama, passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at her residence. Graveside services were held at Lakeview Memory Gardens, Phenix City, Alabama on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, 11 a.m. with Chaplain Dean Knipe officiating, according to Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 3738 US Hwy 431N, Phenix City, Alabama.
Mrs. Pickett, daughter of the late Earl Brewer Bailess and Beatrice Helms Bailess, was born May 18, 1930 in Columbus, Georgia. She was retired from Sears where she worked many years as Manager of the Drapery Workroom. Mrs. Pickett was an active member of Lakewood Baptist Church and the Amen Senior Choir. She was also a longtime member of the Shrine Daughters of the Nile. Mrs. Pickett enjoyed painting portraits, sewing, and quilting. But most of her family and friends knew her real passion was cooking, particularly known for her cakes. Mrs. Pickett looked forward to taking bus trips with the Church and the Shrine; reading; and listening to classical music. The family remembers her as a kind, caring, and loving person with a sweet soul.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Lee Wynn and her second husband William “Bill” Pickett; a daughter, Susan Carter; and a brother, Lewis Earl Bailess.
She is survived by one daughter, Ann Harper of Phenix City; three sons, Gary Wynn of Phenix City, Steve Wynn and his wife Cheryl of Auburn, Alabama, and Joe Wynn and his wife Kay of Ringgold, Georgia; one sister, Betty Davis of Alexandria, Virginia; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to either Kindred Hospice at www.kindredhospice.com or the American Stroke Association at www.stroke.org.
