Mary Diane Childs Camizzi, 81, of Phenix City, AL died on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at St. Francis Hospital, Columbus, GA.

Graveside Services will be held at 12:30 PM (EST) on Thursday, September 04, 2025 at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell, AL with Dr. Don James officiating according to Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL.

Mrs. Camizzi was born January 22, 1944, in Columbus, GA daughter of the late Guy Weatherly Childs, Sr. and Mary Frances Gunter Childs. She was a Medical Insurance Biller working for various doctors’ offices in the area for several years, with Dr. Ogletree being the favorite. Mrs. Camizzi was an avid reader, and the library was a favorite place to visit. She was at one time an avid bowler, a sport she enjoyed with her husband, family and friends. Trips to the casinos in Biloxi was also a favorite pastime. As an Alabama Football fan, this time of year was a great reason to gather with family and friends to enjoy fellowship and the game.

We will remember her Christian faith and how she lived it before us. Things like regular church attendance and loving your family above others. Thank you for the fond memories and solid foundation you laid for us to build on.

Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Gerald Camizzi, Phenix City, AL; two daughters, Stacy Benoit (Steve) and Leann James (Tony) all of Phenix City, AL; one brother, Guy “Bubba” Childs, Jr. (Libby); four grandchildren, Taylor James (Rachel), Ashley Sheppard (Taylor), Christa Benoit and Cameron Benoit; three precious great-grandchildren, Christian James, Harper James and Grayson Sheppard; niece, Amanda Crawford (Michael); her beloved dog, “Teddy”; numerous other family members and friends.
