Mary “Ellen” Harris

Mary “Ellen” Short Harris, 89, of Phenix City, AL passed away peacefully early Saturday morning on January 7, 2023 at the Piedmont Regional Medical Center in Columbus, GA.

Ms. Harris was born March 19, 1933 in Hopkinsville, KY, daughter of the late Walton “Jake” Short and Gillie Russell Short.  She had worked in management with Holiday Inn for 20 plus years and took great pride and joy working with and helping people.  Ms. Harris greatest joy was spoiling her grandchildren with homemade treats and presents during the holiday season.  She was a Christian and a member of St. John United Methodist Church in Hopkinsville, KY

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Finis Harris, one daughter, Patricia Butts, sister, Jerri McKinney, and a brother, D. N. Short.

Left to cherish her memories is her daughter, Cindy Davis and husband Randy, three sisters, Kay Tarbox, Pat Shawley and husband Bill, and Barbara Thomas, five grandchildren, Bryan Montgomery and wife Kenda, Allen Montgomery, Cleverley Easter and husband Todd, Christin Taylor and husband Brandon, and Trey Davis and wife Bethany, 13 great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, extended family members and many caring friends.

A private celebration of life service will be held at a near future time by her loving and devoted family.
