Matthew Cameron Taylor “Matt” Jernigan, 55, of Columbus, GA passed away Thursday afternoon, May 30, 2024, at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, GA.

Matthew was born January 7, 1969, in Columbus, GA, son of Mrs. Dale Jernigan and the late William Jernigan. At an early age, Matt loved God and made the decision to give his life to Jesus. Matt enjoyed reading, boating and water sports, traveling, and was an avid Georgia football fan. He also found immense joy spending time with his grandchildren and best four-legged pal, Jake. Throughout his adult life, he served as a registered nurse in the Columbus, GA area. 

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Whitney Jernigan.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving and devoted wife, Susan Eadie Jernigan of Columbus, GA; his mother, Mrs. Dale Jernigan of Columbus, GA; children, Taylor Golden and husband Scott of Nashville, TN; Erica Burt and husband Rodney of Phenix City, AL; Tyler Brown and significant other Brittany Corn of Columbus, GA; and Amy Warren and husband Michael of Phenix City, AL; grandchildren, Kayli, Logan, Grayden, Addilyn, Averley, Linley, Waylon, Brooklyn, Camry, and a grandson which will be born to Taylor and Scott in October; and beloved dog, Jake; as well as numerous other loving family members and many caring friends.

His family plans to hold a private memorial service to honor Matt’s life, love, and contribution to all that knew him.
