Mattlene Collins Griffin

Mattlene Collins Griffin, 92, of Columbus, GA passed away Sunday, November 27, 2016 at Phenix City Health Care.  A funeral service will be held at Vance-Brooks Funeral home, 4048 Macon Road, Columbus, GA on Friday, December 02, 2016 beginning at 12:00 Noon EST.  The interment will be at Evergreen Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends on Friday, one hour prior to the service beginning at 11:00 A.M. EST at the funeral home.

Mrs. Griffin was born May 1, 1924 in Geneva County, AL to the late Cyrus Collins and Flossie White Collins.  She was a member of River Chapel Primitive Baptist Church.  She enjoyed church and family. She was a crossing guard for fifteen years.

Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Griffin; grandson, John Thomas English; two brothers, three sisters.

Survivors include four daughters:  Linda Fisher (Frank) of Statesboro, GA, Kathy Higdon (Frankie) of Phenix City, AL, Carlene English (John) of Mauk, GA, and Victoria Strickland (Mark) of Pembroke, GA; two sons:  Ronnie Griffin (Annalee) of Goldsboro, N. C. and Lamar Griffin of Columbus, GA; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one great, great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
