Michael Alan Scrimpshire, a cherished individual whose thoughtful and generous spirit touched the lives of many, passed away on June 20, 2025, just one day before his 61st birthday. Born on June 21,1964, in Columbus, Georgia, Michael's roots were firmly planted in his beloved hometown, where he spent his life serving others and fostering a deep sense of community. A funeral service to honor Michael's life will be held on Tuesday June 24, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Vance Brooks Funeral Home 4048 Macon Rd., Columbus, Georgia 31907 with interment immediately following at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on the same day. Michael's spirit will live on in the memories we cherish and the lives he has touched.
Michael was known for his steadfast commitment to volunteering, dedicating countless hours at Mission Columbus under the Columbus Baptist Association, and providing invaluable assistance through the VITA program with the IRS. His selflessness and dedication to helping those in need showcased the essence of who he was—always ready to lend a hand or a listening ear, a friend to all.
A longtime member of Britt David Baptist Church, Michael found comfort and camaraderie among his church family. He relished the simple joys of life, especially those shared with his younger sister, Ashlyn, building Legos.
Michael was a dedicated fan of the Columbus River Dragons, the Columbus Cottonmouths, and the Columbus Clingstones. He enjoyed attending their games and cheering on his hometown teams.
Michael leaves behind his devoted mother, Diane Scrimpshire, and his beloved sister, Ashlyn Scrimpshire. He is also mourned by his Aunt Debby and Uncle Eric Henderson; cousin Holt Bennett; best friends, Donna Hodgins and Brenda Robbins, along with many other friends and extended family who were touched by his kindness and warmth.
He joins in eternal rest with his father, Jerry Scrimpshire, his brother, Jeffery Scrimpshire, and his grandparents, Glenda and Marvin Grisham, who welcomed him with open arms.
Michael's legacy of love, support, and generosity will forever be remembered in the hearts of those fortunate enough to know him.
