Michael “Shane” Vitzen, 52, of Phenix City, AL, passed away Friday afternoon, July 25, 2025, at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, GA. A visitation will be held at Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 3738 Hwy 431 N., Phenix City, AL 36867, on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at 10:00 am EST followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am EST officiated by Rev. Glen Maddox, Jr.
Shane was born on May 24, 1973, he was the son of Richard W. Vitzen and Brenda Maddox Vitzen. Shane was a Maintenance Tech for Aludyne-Columbus Foundry in Columbus, GA. He enjoyed racing, especially NASCAR, and outside activities. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, working, and enjoying all the beautiful nature that God had created. Shane was known to joke around and often played pranks on family and friends. Most of all, he loved his family. Shane adored his grandson and spent as much time with him as he could. Shane will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him. He was a Christian by faith.
Shane is preceded in death by his grandparents, Glen Maddox, Sr. and Sara Eleanor Maddox, and infant sister, Tasha Davis.
Shane is survived by his parents, Richard W. Vitzen and Brenda Maddox Vitzen, both of Phenix City, Al, one son, Richard Vitzen and wife Brooke of Crawford, AL; daughter, Shaina Vitzen Dart of Phenix City, AL, and step-daughter, Whitley Strickland of Salem, AL; sisters, Holly King of Salem, AL and Kimberly Daniel of Phenix City, AL; brother, Heath Vitzen of Lake Harden, AL; grandchildren, Axel Dart and Willow Jones; aunts, Rosalynn Hestley ,Vickie Graves and Eddie Kay Ashcraft; uncles, Joseph Vitzen, Rev. Glen Maddox, Jr., Howard Maddox, and Zeb Maddox; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and other loving family members.
