Nicholas Constantine Vogas

Nicholas Constantine Vogas, 73, of Columbus, GA passed away on Monday, April 8, 2024 at his home. The family will receive friends at Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Road, Columbus, GA on Thursday, April 11, 2024 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. 

Nicholas was born on March 31, 1951 in Pensacola, FL to the late Gus Nicholas Vogas and the late Sophia Zoumberis Kontaxis. He worked for many years as an insurance agent at Prudential, leaving with an outstanding, award-winning career. Nicholas was a member of Holy Transfiguration Church. He loved to talk about God and the angels. A giving man with a selfless spirit, Nicholas always made himself available to volunteer feeding the homeless in downtown Columbus, and as his family and friends would readily agree, he never met a stranger. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and gambling at the casino. Nicholas was a supportive father and a dedicated husband. His family remembers him as being quick-witted and funny. “Life is short,” he would say, “don’t take it so serious.” 

Besides his parents, Nicholas is preceded in death by his sister Katherine Faye Vogas.

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 47 years Barbara Vogas; daughters Francine K. Brittingham (Matt Evenson) and Christina Chartier; sons Gus Vogas (Samantha) and Nicholas Vogas, Jr. (Monika Gennardo); sister Aspasia Kontaxis (Amy Ostendorf); brother Anthony Kontaxis (Keith Fenton); grandchildren Corey Alan Chartier, Illana K. Brittingham, and Dylan Brittingham (Kendall); and great-grandchildren Kingston Brittingham.
