Nina “Frances” Cook

Nina “Frances” Bankston Cook, 96, of Seale, AL passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning, December 27, 2023, in the comfort of her home.
Mrs. Cook was born on Christmas day, December 25, 1927, in Phenix City, AL, daughter of the late F. L. Bankston and Josie Greer Bankston. She was a 1946 graduate of Central High School. She served as Russell County Circuit Clerk for the State of Alabama and had the honor to work with Sherriff Lamar Murphy. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, picture puzzles, and playing Dominoes with the ladies’ group from Crawford Baptist Church in Phenix City where she was a faithful member.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Samuel Hermon Cook, Jr.; sister, Jewel East; brother-in-law, John East; two grandchildren, Karine Szikora and Stacy Moore May and a granddaughter-in-law, Cassidy May.
She is survived by her children, Kathy Walker and husband George of Seale, AL, Brock May of Palm City, FL, and Jeffrey May and wife Tina of Seale, AL, loved as a daughter, Terri May; four grandchildren, Samuel Walker (Daphne), Jennifer May (Scottie Riddle), Heidi Cooper (Dustin), and Sara May; (9) great-grandchildren, Shannon (Cory), Tom, G.K., Lila, Kayden, Shawn, Zoie, Lucy, and Silas; two precious great-great-grandchildren, Nova and Vayda; several nieces, nephews, other loving family members, church family, and many caring friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am EST on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City with Rev. Matt Hawkins officiating. A private interment will be held at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday morning one hour prior to her service from 10:00 to 11:00 am EST at the funeral home in Phenix City.
