Mrs. Ouida King Baker

Mrs. Ouida King Baker, 81, of Phenix City, AL died peacefully surrounded by her family while at Arbor Lake Health and Rehab in Auburn, AL on Thursday, September 14, 2023.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Monday, September 18, 2023 at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City, AL with Rev. Grant Parker officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens, with her grandsons serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Monday afternoon from 1:00 until 2:00 pm, one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Baker was born November 25, 1941 in Pike County, AL, daughter of the late  Ray King and Lula Parks King.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.  She graduated from Central High School in 1961, and was a member of Epworth Methodist Church.  In 1971, she and her loving husband James opened Baker Office Supply, serving the Phenix City and Columbus, GA area for 27 years.  She was active in both the business and civic community.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers. Lanoy King and Herman King; four sisters, Judy Bolin, Carolyn Haines, Jeanette Buchanan, and Elizabeth Burke.

She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, James A. Baker of Phenix City, AL;  three sons, Douglas Brent Baker and wife Julie of Fairhope, AL, James Bradford Baker and wife Stephanie of Auburn, AL and Bryan Keith Baker and wife Kathryn of Phenix City, AL; a daughter, Jennifer Ann Baker of Milton, GA;  a brother, Charles King and wife Gerelda of Phenix City, AL; thirteen grandchildren, Justin Baker (Kristina), Caitlin Baker (Derrick Umansky), Madison Smithwood (Paul), Garrett Baker (Claudette), Hank Baker, Jay Baker, Emilee Player (Ricky), Ericka Baker, Alex Baker, Cameron Baker, Anne Shields (Thomas), Katie Edwards (Matthew), Hannah Henage (Tyler); she was also blessed with having sixteen great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
