Mrs. Rhodes, daughter of the late James Paul Sides and Frances Elizabeth Kelly Sides, was born June 27, 1944, in Columbus, GA.  She retired in 2010 from her 42 years of Nursing. Her career was multi-faceted which included Valley Hospital Charge Nurse as well as working in Dialysis with the late Dr. Bruce Carr, her mentor.  Under his direction she worked at the first outpatient Dialysis clinic in Columbus GA. She received her RN degree from the Nursing program at CVCC and BS of Heath Care Administration from Ameda University.  She was proud to have served our surrounding community for many years with her final nursing position at AFLAC.

Besides the many hours she dedicated in nursing, she enjoyed traveling to the beach and taking trips to Alaska to visit her nieces Cindy and Denise. One of the most memorable trips she took was to Hawaii for her 50th Wedding Anniversary.  On the trip to Hawaii, she had many excursions to include going to Pearl Harbor on the “D” Day Anniversary.  Paulette enjoyed golf, bowling, her many pets, which included a Parrot, a monkey, many dogs and cats.  She loved people, but her joy was sharing time with all her grandchildren and her family.  She was a member of Daughters of the Nile, the Phenix City Shrine Club, and Pine Grove Baptist Church.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Dianne Sides. Mrs. Rhodes is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 64 years, Merrill E. Rhodes of Phenix City; three sons, Glenn Rhodes and his wife Pam, Ken Rhodes, and Todd Rhodes, all of Phenix City; one sister, Myra McCardle of Panama City, Florida; one brother, Don Sides and his wife Faye of Opelika, Alabama; two grandchildren, Daniel Rhodes and his wife Sarah and Rachel Rhodes Jenkins and her husband Anthony, nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; cousins and many other relatives and caring friends and her church family.

Paulette was an organ donor and was an avid supporter of organ donation.  Her organs will be donated to give others life.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the www.LifeLinkLegacyFund.org or The American Heart Association in honor of Paulette Rhodes  https://www.heart.org/donate
