Richard M. Young

Mr. Richard M. Young, 76, of Salem, AL passed away Saturday June 1, 2024, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus, MS. 

A memorial service will be held 11:00 am EDT Saturday, June 8, 2024, at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City, AL with Rev. Steve Croft officiating.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 am EDT, one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home.

Mr. Young was born May 29, 1948, in Shreveport, LA, son of the late Donald W. Young and Ruth Morris Young.  He worked in the accounting industry as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), first for a private firm, then at American Medical and finally with Bill Heard Enterprises for over 20 years.  Richard enjoyed life and didn’t meet strangers.  His passions were his family, his lake family and Florida State athletics, where he was in the President’s Club.  Richard was a board member for Goodwill Industries, the Treasurer for the Lake Harding Association and a member of the Beulah United Methodist Church, where he assisted with the food bank. 

Mr. Young is survived by his wife of 55 years, Monica Wendell Young of Salem, AL; two sons, Rick M. Young, Jr. (Becky) of Tampa, FL and Donnie M. Young (Shana) of Columbus, GA; grandchildren, Brian, Parker Ruth, Abby and Camryn Ann; other extended family and numerous friends.
