Rodney Paul Culwell, 68, of Smiths Station, AL, entered his heavenly home on July 29, 2025. No services will be announced at this time.
Rodney Culwell was born on May 23, 1957, to the late Linda and Jim Culwell. After high school, Rodney served 15 years as a soldier in the United States Army. During this time, he met the love of his life, Barbara, and married in 1982. He enjoyed their life together and loved her dearly. Once retired, he bought an 18-wheeler and enjoyed traveling for work. Rodney loved animals. In his free time, he would read, do yard work, or build military models. He was a kind, caring and considerate man. He was known as a man of few words but when he spoke, he spoke with purpose and great meaning. Rodney will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
Rodney is preceded in death by his parents, Linda and Jim Culwell; brother-in-law, Bryan Echols; and sister-in-law, Julia Miller.
Rodney is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Barbara Culwell; sisters, Laurie Culwell, Marlinda Balak (Roger), and Carla Sims (Ben); brothers-in-law, Charles Miller (Rhonda) and Terry Miller; sister-in-law, Tammy Echols; mother and father-in-law, Ray and Doris Wideher; uncle, Rayburn Lindsey (Julia); and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
