Rosa Susanne Smith-Johnson

Rosa Susanne Smith-Johnson, 73, of Phenix City, AL, passed away on February 2, 2026. A service will be held at Church on the Trail, 6200 Macon Road, Columbus, Ga 31907 on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 10:00 am (EST).

Rosa Smith-Johnson was born in Charleston, West Virginia, on June 10, 1952, to the late Virginia Rose and Ralph Keely. After high school, she obtained multiple bachelor’s degrees and worked as a Dietician for hospitals such as CAMC Medical Center and UCLA Medical Center. Rosa held God and her faith close to her heart and showed it through her way of life. She was kind, loving, and generous. Rosa would give her last dollar to help someone in need. She accepted people as they were and had a forgiving heart. Rosa was genuinely nice and caring. She had a contagious laugh and loved to share it with others. Rosa was a one-of-a-kind woman who spent her life in the service of others. In her free time, she enjoyed expressing her artistic talent through painting. She was a good cook and loved to travel, especially to the ocean or anywhere with a waterfall. Rosa loved to put on her pearls and attend church, and never forgot her Chapstick, no matter the season. Most of all, Rosa adored her family. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They will forever remember her gentle touch, kind spirit, and loving soul. Rosa will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, Rosa is preceded in death by her husbands, Jerrell Kenton Mace, Daniel Patrick Smith, and Alfred Johnson; son, Jason Smith; and siblings, Mark Keely, Patsy Keely, and Joan Keely.

Rosa is survived by her daughter, Pamela Gay Long (Michael); brothers, Timothy Keely, Daniel Keely, and Lawrence Proctor; grandchildren, Derek Lawson (April), Chase Daniel Phelps (Elizabeth), Kayla Lane (Devonte), Chasity Smith, Krysta Smith, and Shelly Stewart; great-grandchildren, Trenitty, Meredith, Olivia, Lorelia, Coraline, Braydon, Gavin, Nevaeh, Zaila, Aakylah, Deijon, Jaxton, Kaisley, and Adalyn; as well as numerous extended family and friends.
